Signed petitions supporting justice for Joy Gardner and calling for an independent public inquiry. The petitions were sponsored by ‘The Voice’ newspaper and ‘The Weekly Journal [The International Black Newspaper] Pride’. The petitions stated that “We the undersigned support the demand of the Joy Gardner Memorial Campaign to have a full public inquiry into the circumstances of her death. We call upon the Home Secretary, Michael Howard, to instigate such an enquiry and we request that the Black community be consulted in the composition of the panel”. File also includes stray correspondence as well as clippings and press releases issued by Bernie Grant eg re planned demonstrations; calling for a public inquiry; and the disciplining of police officers charged with manslaughter of Joy Gardner.
