File comprises correspondence and supporting material for the justice for Joy Gardner Campaign. Supporting material includes documents such as the original handwritten note scrawled by Bernie Grant upon receiving the initial telephone call from the Tottenham Police Station with news of the Joy Gardner incident. Amongst other significant correspondence, there are written exchanges such as an original letter between Bernie Grant MP and the Home Office re Joy Gardner and deportation proceedings [dated prior to the incident which prompted the campaign (28th July 1993)]; and a letter from Paul Condon [Metropolitan Police] thanking Bernie Grant ‘for the constructive way in which you worked with us to help achieve the initial objectives of establishing the truth of what happened and to reduce tension in the community’, dated 4 August 1993.
