Note that the first draft of Bernie Grant’s letter to Tony Blair [dated 5 Jan 2000 re black representation in the Labour Party] was drafted by David Lammy. The response from Tony Blair [dated 5 Mar 2000] arrived the day before Bernie Grant passed away and it was read to him by his wife, Sharon Grant. File also includes a ‘New Nation’ special [entitled ‘Bernie: The Final Letter’, dated 24 April 2000] relating to the above communications between Tony Blair and Bernie Grant.
